5 Reasons to Get a Shingles Vaccine

Wait, what?

Did Larry Cook actually tell folks to get a shingles vaccine?

Well no, but reading his post about his experience with shingles will almost certainly lead you to go out and get vaccinated and protected with a shingles vaccine as soon as you can!

Let’s see what he and his followers said:

  1. Shingles is a brutal, life-threatening disease, causing many people intense pain.
  2. Shingles is so brutal that it led him to take a long list of therapies, including IV vitamin C, homeopathy, lysine and zinc supplements, topical silver, and a vitamin B12 shot, none of which do anything to cure or treat shingles. In fact, there are no great treatments for shingles, although anti-virals may help if started early.
  3. Although the initial symptoms of shingles typically go away in a few weeks, some people have debilitating long term pain (postherpetic neuralgia) for months or years.
  4. Shingles is a reactivation of wild chickenpox. That means most people are at risk to get shingles, as they likely had chickenpox when they were kids. Amazingly, the chickenpox vaccine, which greatly decreases your changes of getting chickenpox also decreases your risk of getting shingles!
  5. The shingles vaccine is safe and effective and is approved for all adults who are at least 50 years old.

Don’t want to get a brutal, life-threatening disease that is so painful that it is comparable to childbirth and drives some to suicide?

Get vaccinated and protected!
