Cheaper by the Dozen was a popular movie in 1950 and was remade in 2003 by Steve Martin.
It tells the true story of Frank Bunker Gilbreth, Jr. and his family of 12 children.
What the movies leave out, not surprisingly, is that Mary Gilbreth, the real life second oldest child in the family, died of diphtheria.
She died in 1912, when she was just five years old, of this now vaccine-preventable disease.
