Why do some people think that thousands of people have been negatively affected after getting their COVID-19 vaccine?

Because the CDC included that information in one of their latest reports…
Have Thousands Been Negatively Affected After Getting a COVID-19 Vaccine?
And some other people are using that information to try and scare folks away from getting vaccinated and protected with COVID-19 vaccines using classic propaganda techniques, including making vaccines sound more risky than they really are.

Are we seeing a daily uptick in Health Impact Events?
Yes, we are.

But only because more and more people are getting vaccinated and protected and we have the v-safe surveillance tool that is actively asking everyone about their symptoms.

Are these Health Impact Events serious or severe side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine?
Not necessarily.
In fact, they probably aren’t.
For example, most of the people getting vaccinated right now are health care professionals. And if they develop a fever, a common side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine, then they would likely be unable to go to work. After all fever is a symptom of COVID-19 itself, and most health care providers get screened for an elevated temperature when they arrive at work!
A very sore arm might also leave you unable to do your normal daily activities.

And yet, even though these side effects are said to be common and have been known to affect people’s ability to do daily activities, fewer than 3% of people have so far reported clinically important side effects!

And possibly far fewer than 3%, as some of the folks would had to miss work likely were also unable to do their normal daily activities.

Mostly know that these Health Impact Events that are being reported are not necessarily serious or severe adverse events and likely are not the kind of events that require a visit to the ER or hospitalization.

This article is so dumb. You are using strawman arguments. You argue that these thousands of adverse events are probbaly not severe. But people are not arguing they are… So you are deliberately counter argumenting arguments people haven’t made. It’s just strange.
You even start by admitting that what people are saying is correct, the figure shows thousands of people.reported adverse events right after the shot.
Your article is insulting, as if you thought that people.reading it wouldn’t understand what it is that you are doing.
