Do COVID Vaccines in Pregnancy Cause Autism?

Why do some people think that getting a COVID vaccine during pregnancy is associated with their baby developing autism?

COVID vaccines in pregnancy don't cause autism, but if Joe Rogan scares you away from getting vaccinated and you get severe COVID, you could have a miscarriage.
How many women skipped getting a COVID vaccine during their pregnancy because they listened to Joe Rogan? How many ended up with severe COVID, or worse? That’s the real Joe Rogan Experience!

The usual suspects…

Do COVID Vaccines in Pregnancy Cause Autism?

Of course, it isn’t true.

Getting a COVID vaccine while you’re pregnant isn’t going to induce autistic like behavior in your kids – unless of course, you’re a pregnant rat who got a regular dose of the COVID vaccine. A regular dose for a regular sized adult person!

“But this is, this is the crazy one. Prenatal exposure to covid Ovid 19 mRNA vaccine induces autism-like behaviors in male neonatal rats. And how many women did they tell to get vaccinated while they were pregnant? How many women did they didn’t have data on whether or not it was safe.”

That’s right.

The study that Joe Rogan cites on his podcast to scare people away from getting vaccinated and protected is about rats who received a full dose of the COVID vaccine.

Risks of Getting COVID in Pregnancy

After all, what happens if you get COVID and you are pregnant and unvaccinated?

“If you are pregnant or postpartum, you have a higher risk for more severe illness from COVID-19 than people who are not pregnant.”

In addition to a higher risk for more severe COVID infection, if you don’t get vaccinated, you won’t pass on any protection to your baby.

“Since the winter of 2022, COVID-19–associated hospitalization rates in infants aged <6 months have been higher than hospitalization rates in any age group except adults aged ≥65 years.”

We also know that getting COVID while pregnant is linked to:

  • higher risks of pre-eclampsia, preterm birth and stillbirth
  • increased risk of developed delays in your baby
  • severe COVID infections

Risks that can all be greatly reduced with a safe and effective COVID vaccine!
