Understanding the hatWRKS Not Vaccinated Patch Controversy

Are you surprised that hatWRKS, a boutique hat shop in Nashville, is getting so much push back after they debuted their “Not Vaccinated” Star of David patches?

I'll never understand how they can equate choosing to wear a "Not Vaccinated" patch to the Yellow Star badges that Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust.

You probably should be…

Not that they don’t deserve it…

It’s that very few people have said or done anything when many others have done exactly the same thing!

Where was the media attention and protestors when Del Bigtree wore a yellow star on his jacket on the steps of the capital in Austin, Texas?

Del Bigtree wore a yellow star with the words "No Vax" in Hebrew-stylized letters at a 2019 rally in Austin, during the largest measles outbreak since the early '90s.

What happened to Del Bigtree?

He certainly wasn’t canceled!

He now leads the organization that is funding the lawsuits keeping folks from getting vaccinated and protected against COVID.

Del Bigtree isn’t the only one of course…

Did you say anything when you heard about these other folks?

Robert F Kennedy, JR has made a number of outrageous claims about vaccines and autism.

Remember when Bob Sears told his story of the “Vaccine Whispers,” the time when kids who weren’t vaccinated would have to wear yellow stars…

Or how about Rob Schneider?

How many times has Rob Schneider brought up the Holocaust?

But I guess the real question should be – why does this continue?

“Last Friday, the owner of hatWRKS hat shop on 8th Ave South in Nashville posted a photo to Instagram with a yellow patch resembling the Star of David along with the words “not vaccinated”.

As of Monday, more than 15 hat companies have cut ties with the Nashville hat store, HatWRKS, after many say the owner made light of the Star of David, comparing patches that Jewish people were forced to wear during the Holocaust to those unvaccinated from COVID-19.

And of course it’s because so many people have gotten away with it…

Using the yellow star or any Holocaust imagery or symbols for another purpose is beyond reprehensible and a disservice to the memory of the six million Jews who were systematically murdered in the Holocaust.
“Using the yellow star or any Holocaust imagery or symbols for another purpose is beyond reprehensible and a disservice to the memory of the six million Jews who were systematically murdered in the Holocaust.”

That can stop now though!

“This level of willful ignorance and craven cruelty is a disservice to the memory of the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust.”

Don’t let anti-vaccine folks, or anyone else, use the yellow star or any other symbols or imagery from the Holocaust to promote their agenda.
