Misinformation linking COVID vaccines to a surge in maternal deaths is unfounded. Maternal mortality rates started rising before the pandemic and prior to the availability of COVID vaccines. Structural issues, health disparities, and low vaccination rates among black women are key contributors. Blaming vaccines only deters pregnant women from necessary protection. More efforts are needed to address maternal mortality.
