Until a vaccine preventable disease is eradicated, it can be helpful to track cases. While that can be hard and often means looking through public health databases and reports, new dashboards can make it rather easy.

Which vaccine preventable diseases can you track through these dashboards?
You are probably just thinking COVID, as many of us got used to checking our local and state COVID dashboard for the latest case counts, but there are now public health dashboards for:
- polio — the polio dashboard provides an overview of the global poliovirus situation showing both, countries with remaining cases of wild poliovirus (WPV) and countries affected by outbreaks of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV).
- respiratory and enteric infections — the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS) monitors viral activity in the United States, including adenovirus, coronaviruses, human metapneumovirus, influenza, parainfluenza, RSV, rhinovirus/enterovirus, COVID, rotavirus, and norovirus
- SARS-CoV-2 Circulation, World — This global summary of SARS-CoV-2 circulation includes percent positivity from sentinel surveillance and other types of systematically conducted virologic surveillance, SARS-CoV-2 variants and link to national or subnational wastewater surveillance information when available.
- WastewaterSCAN Dashboard — tests samples of solids from municipal wastewater in the United States for targets associated with infectious diseases, including COVID, influenza A and B, H1 + H3 + H5 influenza markers, RSV, human metapneumovirus, and enterovirus D68, norovirus, candida, hepA, and Mpox
- Denver Communicable Disease Case Data Dashboards — includes vaccine preventable diseases
- Kansas Reportable Disease Statistics — everything from amebiasis to zika
- Nevada Communicable Disease Dashboard — includes vaccine preventable diseases
- North Dakota Communicable Disease Dashboard – everything from babesiosis to West Nile Virus
- Ohio Summary of Infectious Diseases — everything from amebiasis to zika
- Oregon’s Weekly Communicable Disease Report — tracks measles, pertussis, and more
- South Dakota Monthly Infectious Disease Dashboard – anthrax to zika
- Texas Respiratory Illness Interactive Dashboard — tracks COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in Texas
- Utah’s Vaccine-preventable & invasive bacterial diseases dashboard — updated monthly
- Virginia Monthly Morbidity Surveillance Report — amebiasis to yersiniosis
While very few states have dashboards available for you to see updated disease counts, there are some. And hopefully more will quickly get on board.
