Are More Than Half of Adults Anti-Vaxxers?

Why do some people think that more than half of the adults are anti-vaxxers?

So much winning with Wakefield! At least ten kids have died with pertussis in the UK this year and measles is once again on the rise...

The usual suspects…

Are More Than Half of Adults Anti-Vaxxers?

So why does Andy Wakefield think that he and other anti-vaccine influencers are winning and that more than half of adults in the world are now anti-vaxxers?

“So now we are in a majority of people who are saying no to the fourth, fifth, sixth booster for COVID. And by definition, in media terms, those are anti-vaxxers.”

Yeah, so, not getting an updated COVID vaccine doesn’t make someone an anti-vaxxer

It certainly doesn’t mean that more than half of adults in the world are now anti-vaxxers!

“Although COVID-19 vaccines were safe and highly effective and averted many deaths and hospitalizations as they began rolling out in 2021, there was limited supply, and millions around the world suffered because they did not have access to them.”

Still, the majority of people want to get vaccinated and they want to vaccinate their kids.

Sure, anti-vaccine influencers have done a very good job scaring people and making them anxious to get vaccinated, but most still know that the great benefits of being vaccinated outweigh the few risks.

“Americans remain steadfast in their belief in the overall value of childhood vaccines, with no change over the last four years in the large majority who say the benefits of childhood vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) outweigh the risks, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.”

Americans’ Largely Positive Views of Childhood Vaccines Hold Steady

That’s why even when researchers find that support for vaccines is widespread, even as some parents have become a bit hesitant or scared by all of the misinformation and propaganda they are inundated with.

The kind of misinformation and propaganda that has been spread by Andy Wakefield for years…
