Why do some people think that COVID vaccines are not as safe and effective as health experts claim?

The usual suspects…
Preprint Propaganda Study about Vaccines
And more and more, they have found that they can abuse the system of publishing preprints to make it seem like they have gotten some big new study published in a real medical journal.

For example, Peter McCullough’s breaking new study he recently posted about is a preprint that was not peer-reviewed and was approved in just a day after it was received.
So what is a preprint?
“Preprints.org is a multidiscipline platform providing preprint service that is dedicated to making early versions of research outputs permanently available and citable. We post original research articles and comprehensive reviews, and papers can be updated by authors as long as the updated content has not been published online. Content on Preprints.org is not peer-reviewed and can receive feedback from readers.”
About preprints.org
Now while there is nothing necessarily wrong with first publishing as a preprint, the problem comes when you publicize your preprint as a regular study.
- Claim that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines contain DNA contaminants based on study of vials of “unknown provenance”; no evidence COVID-19 mRNA vaccines can alter DNA in people
- Analysis of Dutch cities’ mortality doesn’t show that COVID-19 vaccines increase the risk of death, contrary to Alex Berenson’s interpretation
- Flawed preprint based on autopsies inadequate to demonstrate that COVID-19 vaccines caused 74% of those deaths
- Yale Preprint Recorded Patient Experiences, Did Not Demonstrate Vaccines Cause New Syndrome
- Japan preprint on myocarditis used inadequate methods to suggest COVID-19 vaccines cause more myocarditis deaths
- COVID-19 vaccines provide important benefits; SSRN preprint didn’t find COVID-19 vaccines to be “98 times worse” than the virus
- Studies show that the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines outweigh their risks; preprint claiming to show otherwise is flawed
- Fact-checking claims about Danish preprint study on COVID-19 vaccines and mortality
There is also the problem that most of these preprints from anti-vaccine influencers are so poorly done that they don’t actually say what the researchers claim!
COVID-19 Vaccines in Pregnancy are Safe and Effective
So what about Peter McCullough’s latest preprint?
The preprint in which Peter McCullough goes “dumpster diving” in the VAERS database?
“We found unacceptably high breaches in safety signals for 37 AEs after COVID-19 vaccination in pregnant women. An immediate global moratorium on COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy is warranted. The United States government, medical organizations, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies have misled and/or deceived the public regarding the safety of COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy. Promotion of these products must be immediately halted.”
Are COVID-19 Vaccines in Pregnancy as Safe and Effective as the U.S. Government, Medical Organizations, and Pharmaceutical Industry Claim? Part I
The preprint in which they are simply saying that COVID vaccines have more side effect entries in the “VAERS database” than flu vaccines for pregnant women, but doesn’t take into account how many of each vaccine had been given?
Seems like that would be important information to include in the study, wouldn’t it?
“Noteworthy is that the U.S. CDC/FDA VAERS lists these complications in British spelling.”
Are COVID-19 Vaccines in Pregnancy as Safe and Effective as the U.S. Government, Medical Organizations, and Pharmaceutical Industry Claim? Part I
The preprint that doesn’t understand that VAERS uses an international coding system from the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA), which is why you see terms like foetal instead of fetal.
The preprint which also includes an awful lot of foreign VAERS entries?

Actually searching VAERS, which automatically excludes foreign cases, found far fewer results for the same symptoms and adverse events.
And looking at published, peer reviewed studies, we know that COVID vaccines in pregnancy are safe and effective:
- Safety and Effectiveness of Maternal COVID-19 Vaccines Among Pregnant People and Infants
- Systematic review and meta-analysis of the effectiveness and perinatal outcomes of COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy
- Estimation of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine Effectiveness Against Medically Attended COVID-19 in Pregnancy During Periods of Delta and Omicron Variant Predominance in the United States
- The impact of maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination on maternal-fetal outcomes
Which is good news, because we know how important it is to be protected from COVID during pregnancy.
